We were watching the workers when one of the guys down by the pool, put up his hand showing 5 fingers 3 times. I looked and I was the only person in his line of vision. I wondered why is he showing me the number 15. Well shortly after that I went inside and when I came out, I said to Marv, where did everyone go?. He said suddenly without any talking they stopped and went inside and the boss went home. I checked the clock it was just after 6 so I guess the guy was telling me they were stopping work in 15 minutes.
Everyone but this poor guy in the red. Can you see him by the light? He is grinding roof tiles. He has no gloves, glasses or face mask. The conditions are really unfair. Eventually another guy showed up and he held the light near the tiles so the guy could see better to line them up. The ones that don't go home sleep in a shack that has only part of a roof and eat at a camp fire twice a day.
What amazing me about them is how clean they manage to keep themselves. Everyday they come to work in clean clothes and pack a bag to change when they go home. They clean themselves up using water from a old barrel. The guys in the shack manage to keep clean too and I don't know how they do that. Perhaps Marvin will take notice and stop wearing his "work jeans and shirts" until they fall off him or until I grab them while he is sleeping and throw them in the laundry or garbage.
It was a nice evening, very quiet the only sound was a Mexican guitarist playing at one of the hotels below us. We stayed up late enjoying the evening.
