WE ARRIVED

  • Buenos días

  • Well we arrived - we left Thursday and arrived on Saturday one would think that we must have traveled half way around the world instead of just two time zones.
  • The two days spent travelling were good, everything went according to the plan and airport people were all very nice, nice change.
  • Dennis and Karen took us to the bus stop on Thursday and we spent the first night at the Clarion in Seattle. We have been staying there for years, so we felt right at home.
That was way too much food for two people. Note to ourselves, one appy is enough.
After breakfast we caught the shuttle to the airport and had yet again another lesson on how to check in at the darn machines. :)

We arrived in Houston and caught the shuttle to the Comfort Inn, the room was huge and the hotel is half a block from wine store and pizza place. When we bought the wine the lady says ,," Do you want me to open it for you" We looked at her rather oddly and she explained that you can take your opened wine into any of the restaurants in the mall. "We are all friends, we don't care". I thought what about the laws, then realized I was in Texas.

Another shuttle to the airport , we left the hotel at 8:00 and we checked in (unassisted I might add :)), went through security (yea full body scan as usual for me, nothing for Marvin), took a tram ride and walked quite a distance and sat down at the gate at 8:45. We had allowed ourselves 3 hours so we just sat there and people watched.

We only know one couple that stay here and he was on the plane behind us and turns out we had same guy picking us up. We thought oh good we can split the cost but no ,, the fellow had subcontracted the other fare (us) out. lol, That was ok though, nice guy. I was following our neigbour and not looking for a sign,, I heard someone call out LINDA ,, but I did not respond since - why would anyone at the airport know my name. Finally the driver caught up to us and he said I knew it was you,, I have no idea how he knew but the funny part was, he looked at Marvin and said you looked right at the sign that said Linda McLean and yet you walked on by. lol now most of you reading this would not find that odd at all but the limo guy sure did. lol

Boy this is a long blog I am not normally so chatty at 4:30 in the morning.

We arrived at the condo, met the new guy that looks after any issues we have. He is a nice friendly guy, made us feel most welcome. Everything was nice and as we had expected.

Then off to Super Che,,, I don't know what happened while we were gone but eveyone must have taken English lessons. Well not the cashiers but the taxi drivers. Alot of the food in the store was in Spanish and English, not at all like last year.
We spent 2000 pesos, which converted would be 170 dollars Canadian. Here is a sample of what we got for our money. 6 bottles of wine, large bottle of tequila, large bottle of rum, pop, 2 cooked chickens, bread, veggies, dairy stuff, some cold meat, 2 steaks, clamoto juice and a slow cooker ect. oh yea and beer and 2 big containers of water, and shampoo, conditioner and sunscreen. Almost could not fit it all in the trunk of the cab.

We only unpacked enough to get by then hit the pool. No one was in it and a breeze came up, as we got out, I said this probably will be the only time you will feel a bit cold this trip. We had chicken and salad for dinner on the balcony overlooking the harbour. We could hear laughing and splashing, its a  HUGE holiday here and many of the Nationals from other parts of the country are here enjoying the time in a beautiful, safe part of Mexico.

Hit the sack early because I could not wait to wake up this morning.
